Getting Ready

We purchased the land in April 2006. We spent the following several months visiting the land and getting to know it.

The previous owner had been required to put in a split-rail fence along part of the approximate boundary of the wetland buffer.

He had also had roughed out a driveway up to what we decided would be a good homesite on this south- and west-facing slope.

We cut down several trees, including an alder that was precariously hanging over the driveway and a maple that was right in the center of the homesite. Several other trees were cut to make space for the well-drilling rig.
